Which Treatment is Best?

Remember that not every person will benefit from the same treatment. While you may find hot stone massages work for you, another person may prefer deep tissue. Every person experiences muscle pain and stiffness differently. At Therapeutic Body Concepts, we want to treat your pain as effectively and comfortably as possible.

Our registered massage therapists are trained to tailor every session to meet your needs. When you book, simply tell us what you need worked on, whether it’s your lower back, shoulders, or legs. From there, we can set you up with the treatment and therapist that will work best for you.Do you suffer from chronic pain or stress? We have a health option to help you get back on track. Our location for massage therapy in west Edmonton is open 7 days a week to help you feel your best.

Deep Tissue Massage

If you find yourself suffering from chronic pain and muscle soreness, you likely need deep tissue work to experience full relief. During the session, your therapist will really work through your muscles, applying firm pressure to reach deep into your muscles and help relieve pain. This sort of deep pressure means you may feel sore or tender for the next day or two, but the end results are pain-free relaxation. Deep tissue is best for people who suffer from:

  • Chronic pains
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Headaches
  • Muscles spasms
  • Back pain
  • Respiratory conditions
  • Pre- and post-natal pregnancy pain
  • Sports injuries

If you find you’re in any pain during your session, be sure to tell your therapist so they can adjust their methods to suit your needs and comfort.

Sports Massage

If you’re an athlete, you may find that typical, untargeted deep tissue massages are ineffective in helping you heal. That’s why we offer treatments focused specifically on helping athletes. These treatments are essentially deep tissue massages focused on certain areas of the body in order to help:

• Improve performance
• Prevent injury
• Promote healing

When you come in, make sure to speak with your therapist about your specific needs. This way they can focus on the areas you need to help promote your healing and strength.

Hot Stone Massage

Similar to deep tissue, hot stone massages work deeply in the muscle to help alleviate chronic pains. The difference here lies in the use of the hot stones. Smooth, flat stones are heated and placed along your back. The heat and weight of the stones causes your muscles to relax, allowing the therapist to reach even deeper into your muscles without the same pressure as deep tissue. Your therapist may also use the stones as an active part of the massage, moving them up and down your muscles to help you relax even further.

Thai

Unlike the other services we offer, Thai massage uses a form of passive stretching to relax and release pressure in the body. During the process, you’ll lie on a mat while your therapist moves and stretches your body using their own body weight. This helps stimulate the energy lines in your body in order to:

• Promote healing
• Promote balance
• Increase flexibility
• Relieve stiffness

This treatment isn’t typically recommended if you’re new to massages, but if you’re looking for a different experience that has long-lasting results, it comes with many unique benefits.
