5 Questions to Ask Before You Choose a Massage Therapy Clinic in Edmonton
Like most services, finding a great massage therapist in Edmonton starts with a bit of research. Luckily, you won’t have to work too hard to find the right fit. Great massage clinics with a focus on client experience will have all their information ready for you to visit online. Plus, they’ll be available to take your call and answer any other questions you have.
Before you choose a clinic or decide to switch to a new clinic, answering a few simple questions can set your mind at ease and help you enjoy the experience.
We have a range of therapists at Therapeutic Body Concepts who have all worked in various clinics in Edmonton, AB and elsewhere. They’re experts in finding the right massage location (they ended up with us, after all!). They’ve come up with a list of questions to ask before you book a massage with a new clinic.
Are There Registered Massage Therapists?
This is one of the most important questions to ask. In most cases, you won’t have to ask at all because the clinic will state on their website if they have Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs). RMTs have accumulated over 2200 hours of experience and had formal education and training.
In Alberta, massage therapists are not regulated and do not have to be RMTs. However, it’s always best to find an RMT because you can verify their experience and training.
If you want a more affordable treatment and you’re willing to sacrifice the expertise of an RMT, students are a great option. You can usually find massage clinics that also employ students and charge a lower price for student massages.
Which Types of Therapeutic Massage Are Available?
Having a variety of treatment options to choose from can help you get the customized care you need from a massage clinic. Here are a few great options for different issues you might be experiencing:
- Thai massage can be great if you have reduced mobility or strength
- Sports massages can help treat sports injuries or repetitive strains
- Deep tissue massage can ease chronic or acute pain, especially after injuries or motor vehicle accidents
- Hot stone massages and relaxation massages can improve mood and sleeping patterns, and relieve tension and surface pain
- Prenatal massages can help promote healthy pregnancies and births
Do They Direct Bill?
The last thing you want when you come out of a treatment room is to deal with a mass of paperwork. Our clients always appreciate direct billing. We handle communications with insurance companies so you can go home and relax after your treatment.
If a company doesn’t state whether they direct bill on their website, it’s most likely they don’t, so be sure to ask before booking. That way, you’ll know if you need to bring paperwork for your insurance.
Are They Located in a Clean & Convenient Area?
When you’re looking for a massage clinic in the Edmonton area, be sure to check the location out online if you’ve never been there before.
We have massage clinics located in south Edmonton and west Edmonton so our clients can easily access us. We even have some clients who travel from out of town regularly for their massages!
What Does the Indoor Environment Feel Like?
Warm, safe, and comfortable: that’s how you should feel when you walk into an Edmonton massage clinic. Treatment starts when you step inside the space, not just when your massage begins.
Our clients have been coming to our west Edmonton massage clinic for years because they feel at ease in the space. It’s a large clinic set in a quiet neighbourhood with plenty of parking. Inside, our massage rooms have wood paneling and soft, comfortable massage tables.
We’ve designed our brand-new south Edmonton massage therapy clinic with the same concept in mind. Open space, wood panelling, and relaxing music help set our clients at ease as soon as they walk in the door. If you don’t believe us, drop by sometime to see for yourself!
